Why we are involved with ATLAS
The Association of Technical Lightning & Access Specialists (ATLAS) has been representing the leading companies in the lightning protection and steeplejack industry since 1946 and has been at the forefront of all industry developments, as soon as Jason started working in the industry and attended the Steeplejack college in Bircham Newton he decided that he would one day be on the council and help to drive the industry forward, in 2015 Jason became the President a position he still holds today. ATLAS is committed to best practice, technical excellence, and the qualification and training of the workforce to provide the highest quality service to the industry’s clients which is an ethos that Orion follow and by being in close contact at the front line Jason is able to keep us ahead of the competition on any new regulations or standards.
Why we are involved with SLPTG
The award-winning Steeplejack and Lightning Protection Training Group (SLPTG) is a membership organisation which works closely with the National Construction College, the main provider of training to the industry, and CITB on issues relating to grants, funding and the development of courses within the steeplejack and lightning conductor industries. It is for this reason that Justin decided to become a council member and then Treasurer until in 2014 when he became the chairman, during this time the Training Group modernised the sector apprenticeship syllabuses and increased apprenticeship intakes for the industry, worked closely with ATLAS and CSCS to introduce a major new requirement for Lightning Conductor Engineer and Steeplejack operatives renewing their CSCS and was able to collect award for Outstanding Strategic Partner at the Pride of Construction Awards 2015 on the SLPTG’s behalf.
