Lightning Protection Oxford – Four Winds

Client: BHL Builders (Oxford)

Orion LP were tasked with designing and installing a lightning protection system for the large private residential property all in compliance with BSEN 62305. Four Winds is constructed using original stone and fitted with a slate roof, so it was agreed at the start of the project that the lightning protection system would be fitted externally with the colours matched to the surfaces for the best possible aesthetic effect which was of high importance on such a prestigious project as Four Winds.

Installation

Following a consultation meeting, a traditional system of externally fitted conductors was agreed upon comprising a network of 25×3 mm PVC coated aluminium conductors to match the colours of the property, the conductor locations were designed in such a way as to maximise the aesthetic appearance of the property whilst ensuring full compliance with BSEN 62305.
The earth termination points were located in the newly installed block paved areas and housed in purpose made inspection chambers prior to the system being fully tested and certified.

Execution

Throughout the project our engineers used a number of their specialist skills to both access the roof via mobile elevated working platforms (IPAF qualification) and to excavate and install the earth rods safely without causing damage to the underground services, our client BHL Builders was so delighted with the installation that they sent an email asking for the engineers to be personally thanked on their behalf.

We look forward to working with BHL Builders in the future.
